Dealing with oil tanks, which can leak and impact Clifton soils is always a welcomed challenge for SREC. Clifton, which its history rich history has challenges that are not unlike many cities in Passaic, Bergen, Hudson and essex counties. Clifton has some of the lowest areas of New Jersey with it being bordered by the Passaic River, which at some points are at sea level. Just a few miles away, you have the upper hills where once stood the old Burger’s Quarry off off valley Road in Clifton. The old quarry is now a large, repurposed housing development.
Depending on the location, as a team, SREC and you, the property owner need to assess where we are and what the challenges might me. Some areas have some of the most beautiful, bountiful porous sand, and just a stones throw, we have to deal with structural Bedrock, so shallow, some homes could not even have basements.
When it comes to the New Dirty Dirt law and the concerns of property owners, Clifton is a challenges as many homes were filled in with soils that came from dredging ares of the Passaic river or redevelopment of industrial sites. The other challenge is, while Clifton is considered a combination of urban and suburban hamlets in the city, many farms, more than what currently exist were developed and lots of the soils, an emphasis on topsoil was impacted with what are now banned chemicals and compounds.
Leaking oil tanks can lead to serious soil and groundwater pollution. Our team provides thorough environmental testing services designed to identify contamination and guide the appropriate remediation steps.
Protecting Clifton’s environment — and your property’s value — is our top priority. Steve Rich Environmental brings both expertise and a commitment to thorough, responsible environmental solutions.
