Proven Partners: From Our Home Teams to Habitat for Humanity

Proud as we are to service our New Jersey and New York homeowners in their oil tank removals, repairing septic systems and in all our work as environmental contractors, we’ve also enjoyed being an integral part of some specific ‘signature projects’ in the Northeast area.

With our sister company Holes Infrastructure Solutions, we have been instrumental in expediting many recent projects that make the Garden State and its surrounding environs the epicenter of culture, sports and outdoor activities (we do like to support our local teams!) as well as paving — literally — a better life for our lower income neighbors.

Some of the organizations and projects listed below might be recognized by folks beyond our immediate area … they certainly are important to us prideful New Jersians and New Yorkers.

The Devils Find A Home

National Hockey League team New Jersey Devils logo Working with Langan Engineering — Steve Rich Environmental Contractors (SREC) completed all the test holes for the geotechnical investigation of the new Prudential Center, opened in Newark, N.J. in 2007. Utilizing backhoes and trackhoes, SREC excavated up to 20 feet deep so the geotechnical team could test soils to determine if the sub surface could support the new arena.

We also completed the utility removal (‘daylighting’) for the razing of over 20 buildings for what has been called the “revitalization of Newark”. Prior to mobilization, all utilities had to be identified, as buildings on busy Broad Avenue and Market Street in downtown Newark were being razed and it was imperative these utilities were not damaged.

“The Rock”, as we New Jersians have come to call it, is the go-to-arena of Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris and Passaic counties in North Jersey, home to the state’s New Jersey Devils professional hockey team (that’s a three time Stanley Cup winning professional hockey team!) as well as concerts and other arena-sized events.

The Jets Need To Train

New York Jets official logo Sub-contractor Steve Rich Environmental Contractors completed test holes for the New York Jets new training facility in Floram Park, New Jersey. SREC set to work on this time-rushed job utilizing vacuum excavating to ensure that no utilities were damaged at the new Jets training facility.

With the start of the 2014 season looming at the then-new Metlife Stadium in the Meadowlands — where the SuperBowl was played that year — we got to work making sure that the spot the Jet’s organization picked was ready for the scheduled start to Jet’s training.

Going To Bat For The Yankees

New York Yankees — the greatest franchise in the history of professional sports — official logo The New York Yankees and the City of New York worked expeditiously to raze the old Yankee Stadium, and Steve Rich Environmental Contractors was hired through prime contractors to remove all the hazardous waste at the site — old blue paint cans, lighting ballasts, fluorescent lights, pcb’s, lubricants, etc.

We also cleaned all the remaining underground heating oil tanks, readying the old ball park for its final decommissions. It was Steve Rich who really said ‘lights out’ at the completion of the clean-up, seeing to it that all of the Stadium’s famous outdoor lighting, having had illuminated so many night games, was recycled by EPA approved contractors.

Volunteering Out Of Habitat

Habitat for Humanity logo The Passaic Chapter of Habitat for Humanity put out a call for bids to break ground on new homes and for specific sidewalk revitalization on N. 2nd Street. The quotes from various N.J. contractors just didn’t jell with Habitat’s limited budget, but Holes Solutions volunteered a ‘gift-in-kind’ of manpower, expertise, and machinery to an approximate cost of $46,000 and saw the Habitat for Humanity project to completion.

Contributing to the betterment of our neighborhoods and neighbors, on whatever scale, for recreational, home or professional purposes is why we do what we do here at both Steve Rich Environmental Contractors and Holes Infrastructure Solutions.
